What the Coast Guard Taught Me
My Coast Guard experience shaped my leadership philosophy in ways that directly influence how I operate in fast‑moving, high‑stakes technology environments. In moments of chaos and ambiguity, I learned that leaders must bring clarity, calm, and confidence—then rally people toward a successful outcome.
When you’re in 30‑foot seas with 75‑mph winds, taking a 51‑degree list in the middle of the Atlantic with no one to call but your shipmates, you learn to adapt, lead decisively, and keep the team aligned. Those lessons translate directly into how I navigate complex programs, guide teams through uncertainty, and deliver results when it matters most.
